Who are you really—at home, in the office, 20 feet in the air? In Surface Tension, the acrobats of Tangle Movement Arts ask how far we see beneath the surface of daily interactions. A Tinder date turns into a rocky relationship. A young professional works out which face to show the world. And an advice columnist scrambles to hide her own personal crisis. Tangle’s aerial dancers balance a mix of trapeze, aerial silks, partner dancing, and spoken word to explore life’s hidden currents, and push through the forces that pull us together.

Surface Tension‘s innovative mix of dance, theater, and aerial acrobatics premiered at Neighborhood House in Philadelphia’s Old City as part of the 2016 FringeArts Festival.

For the creation of Surface Tension, Tangle received state arts funding support through a grant from The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
