RetroAct is a revival and remix of acts from Tangle’s five years of innovative aerial performance! Tangle’s ten-woman cast travels through simmering duets, intricate balancing acts, a celebration of campy drag traditions, and a suspended-in-air meditation on the passage of time. A dreamer wakes and dresses for work 20 feet in the air. And two women work out their frustration and flirtation in a dance that traverses the room and reaches the ceiling.
RetroAct is a circus-theater remix of the most exciting moments from Tangle’s five years of aerial dance theater– featuring the duets, dynamic aerial storytelling, and unexpected juxtapositions that have made Tangle a Philadelphia-area circus favorite since 2011.
FringeArts says RetroAct is “a victory lap for this accomplished company… as suited for newcomers as it is for fans who recall Tangle’s gravity and genre-defying spectacles of years past.” Uwishunu calls RetroAct a “top pick for dynamic dance,” and PhillyVoice says not to miss this “circus-theater spectacle.”
